Macbook Air not turning on repair in Adelaide
We are dealing today with Macbook Air which shows no light on the charger and not turning on. The issue occurred after a customer spilled liquid over the Macbook and kept using it until it stops turning on.
We took the Macbook apart and start investigating the issue preventing it from turning on.
We have spotted the issue immediately, there was oxidation around the SMC area and couple other areas on the logic board.
SMC is a microcontroller chip responsible to allow the system to turn on and start accepting power via a charger. It does that by controlling other chips connected to the higher rails. Having liquid damage around it usually is a sign that we may have damaged components or traces in that area.

When we shine the light under a microscope issue start getting clear. As you can see, some traces are clearly corroded and missing together with the components attached to them.
We start rebuilding traces and replaced couple of components which were faulty.
We have sophisticated equipment workshop with high accuracy microscope, reflow machine and tools for micro soldering to achieve high-quality logic boards repairs. With hundreds of components in stock, we quickly located and replaced the faulty resistor which was interrupting power to the SMC.
Once we replaced all bad components, repaired traces and ensured macbook now accepts power. There were one last step – to dip our logic board in the ultrasonic cleaner. This way we can ensure there is no more liquid residue which may damage other components in the long term.
We also noticed that some keys were not working due to direct spill over the keyboard and offer the customer keyboard replacement.
We finished the repair in record time and Megan had her Macbook Air back just in 3 days with a repaired logic board and replaced keyboard.
