This was not the case, unfortunately with this iMac Repair stuck on white screen. The accumulated dust within caused the system to overheat to the breaking point. Resulting in a failed graphic card on this iMac stuck on a white screen.
We must admit, this is not an easy disassembly. Many connectors are running through this motherboard, and a little slip of a screwdriver or wrong pull of a cable may damage a sensor or chip.

We could clearly see how dry the thermal compound was on the radiator block. The thermal compound usually has a lifespan of 2-5 years, depending on the humidity and temperature of the environmemt. Unfortunately, this 10-year-old iMac passed way beyond that threshold and has never been serviced.
It was clearly visible that the compound has dried up so much that the heat from the graphic chip could not transfer correctly to the cooling block. Thus causing the system to crash when it tries to loa the operating system.
We have only one way to fix iMac Graphic Card problems (apart from replacing the whole part, of course). Unfortunately, this method involves resoldering the graphic chip back to its place under concentrated heat.
